Food Shelf

PH supplies volunteers who work the second through fifth Tuesday nights at 7:00 pm at the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf in New Brighton. The food shelf is located north of the junction of I-694 and Silver Lake Road in the old Pike Lake School. The food shelf website is http://www.moundsviewschools.org/Page/2990.

March is Minnesota FoodShare month. Your donations are matched during March.

Current Food Shelf Needs

The following items are often needed: Canned Fruit, Canned Meat (tuna, chicken, spam, ham), Peanut Butter, Spaghetti Sauce, Tuna, Helper/Hamburger Helper, Sweet Cereal, Stew and Chili, Spaghettios/Raviolio’s with meatballs, Mac n Cheese Cups, Boxed Mac n Cheese, Ketchup, Granola Bars, Flour, Sugar, Oil, Shampoo, Toilet Paper, Dishwasher Detergent, Baby Wipes, and Laundry Detergent.

Donations of Money - a $100.00 donation can provide up to $800.00 worth of groceries when they purchase through their network of suppliers. Note that you can now donate to the food shelf via a link on the food shelf website at http://www.moundsviewschools.org/Page/173.

Most of the clients are families with children, so items children will like are especially welcome.

Food shelf items are normally collected the first Sunday of the month (our Soup Sunday) at PH. For information on volunteering at the food shelf, see below.

Volunteer to work at the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf in New Brighton

Volunteers are needed! PH members and their families are operating the food shelf on Tuesday evenings from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. The work is easy and the rewards are great! Children under 18 may not work at the food shelf (except in emergencies). Contact Fred and Carol Green for more information or to volunteer.

The foodshelf has the following openings for volunteers (PH normally staffs the foodshelf on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 until 9:30). If you are interested, contact Lisa Baker (lisa.baker@moundsviewschools.org or 651-621-7450).

Please help us spread the word, high school students are welcome. If they have any volunteer hours that they need to fulfill this would be a great opportunity. Responsibilities include - checking people in and handing out information.

Regular Food Shelf Openings:

  • Mondays - 10:00 - 12:00 pm - Shopping with clients
  • On-Call Bakery Delivery - Pick up bakery from Cub Foods in New Brighton or Arden Hills, when our regular volunteers are unable to do so.
  • On-Call Substitutes for All Positions: Advance notice given, a great way to volunteer without committing to a weekly schedule.
